It was in the early 1980's when a serious problem in several hospital kitchens around Britain involving cross contamination between cooked and raw food, resulting in the deaths of many vulnerable patients prone to infection, that colour coding was conceived and indeed Rowplas^TM became an overnight success.

Originally, Rowplas^TM was a white polyethylene cutting board with a coloured plug inserted in the ends to distinguish it's specific use ie; red plug raw meat, yellow plug - cooked meat, blue plug - raw fish, green plug - fruit & salad products, brown plug - raw vegetables, white plug - dairy & bakery products. This has since become an industry standard.

Then in the mid 1980's Rowplas^TM became all coloured (solid) red, yellow, blue etc. to make colour identification even easier and the introduction of an increased range of sizes and thicknesses. Once again, to give the customer more choice.

Now Rowplas TC^TM (Twin Code) has been born to give a third generation Rowplas^TM range, pushing colour coded technology into the new millennium.

Today, Rowplas^TM is a brand leader and enjoys sales throughout the world. Historically, Row & Sons in 1880 is noted as the first company to commence manufacturing Butchers Chopping Blocks commercially and this crafted product still plays a vital part of our portfolio, together with Aluminium & Stainless Steel Tabling, Specially Cut & Machined Polyethylene Cutting Boards for new concepts, or just to replace an old, worn out board.
