DATE CODING

The purpose of Date Coding is to provide management with precise information on the age and use of the boards. They may be date coded with either a 'Used from' date or 'Replace by' date. To simplify the displayed text, the dates can be encrypted into two alphabetical letters to show month (or quarter) plus the year. The 'Used from' date code facilitates a pro-active system of monitoring of all boards over a certain age.

Date-coding is an optional extra.

HYGIENE TRACE NUMBER (HTN)

Marking each Rowplas TC with its own discreet Hygiene Trace Number (HTN) provides the ability to 'track' the boards with pinpoint accuracy and to know specifically the size, code, location, age and condition of every board within a large establishment or organisation.

The HTN will enable the precise identification and tracing of boards which have been subjected to micro-biological tests.

In board replacement programmes, the HTN prevents confusion and enables boards scheduled for expulsion from the prep. environment, to be identified with pinpoint accuracy.

Hygiene Trace Numbers are an optional extra.

STANDARD BOARD SIZES

Rowplas TC is available in three thicknesses, 15mm, 19mm and 25mm and in two sizes 450mm x 300mm and 600mm x450mm (nominal).

PERSONNEL SAFETY AND EMPLOYER LIABILITY

Experience shows that warped and lightweight cutting boards can be a serious hazard. The prime cause is boards which are severely 'under-specified' for the task, All too often 12mm 1/2" thick boards are used when safety dictates that 19mm or 25mm boards would be correct.

Regardless of manufacturer, we advocate extreme caution in the use of 12mm boards, except in the lightest applications, Warped, unstable boards should be condemned and removed to reduce accident liability.

HYGIENE & CUTTING BOARD UNDERCLOTHS

It is traditional for chefs to place kitchen cloths under cutting boards whilst working. For reasons of very poor hygiene, this practice is not recommended. As a better and safer substitute, we suggest the use of impregnated sanitising wipes which should be renewed each time a board is exchanged for another', or when a board is 'flipped over' to the clean surface. Used wipes should be disposed of, immediately.
